Western Elite to Host Special Veterans Night During Annual Free Christmas Express Event in Early December

 LAS VEGAS/LINCOLN COUNTY, NV – Nov. 9, 2017 – The holidays are a time for giving, family, cheer and sweet treats. In celebration of the festive times ahead, Western Elite, one of Southern Nevada’s top waste management and recycling companies, is hosting its annual Christmas Express Veterans Night on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4:45-8:30 p.m. at the Western Elite ranch in Lincoln County.

Current and former military personnel and their families are invited to attend the complimentary event and be transported to a winter wonderland complete with enchanting train rides, food, hot chocolate, hay/carriage rides, photo opportunities with Santa, and a live nativity scene. Train rides depart every 15 minutes starting at 5:30 p.m., and the final ride leaves the station at 8:30 p.m.

This is the second year Western Elite and the Williams Family in Lincoln County have dedicated a free night for members of the military and their families.

“We are always excited to offer this wonderful event free to the public each year, especially this special night for veterans and their families to thank them for serving our country,” said Western Elite Vice President Scott Seastrand. “It’s a fun way for us to give back to the community that gives so much of itself to us throughout the year.”

The event is located at the Western Elite site in Lincoln County, about one hour from Las Vegas on U.S. Highway 93, Mile Marker 8. Children’s Dentistry will celebrate the grand opening of its new North Las Vegas location with local dignitaries and a representative from the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, who will attend to help kick off a month-long food drive. The drive will be held at all Children’s Dentistry locations during November to benefit the organization’s pantry. Children’s Dentistry Holds Halloween Candy Drive for Troops Overseas

Children’s Dentistry in Southern Nevada will be holding a drive for children and their parents to drop off unopened Halloween candy to be donated to troops currently stationed overseas. Each person to drop off candy will receive a free dental goodie bag as a “thank you.” The candy that is donated will be brought to the USO location in Las Vegas and then packaged and shipped to the military personnel.

Contractors Board Executive Officer Appointed to Participate in National Licensing Consortium

Margi Grein_smallHENDERSON, NV – The Nevada State Contractors Board is pleased to announce that Executive Officer Margi A. Grein has been appointed by Governor Sandoval to join Nevada’s core team, which will be participating in the National Occupational Licensing Learning Consortium.  Nevada was one of 11 states selected to participate in the Consortium, which will analyze licensing policies, study actions to remove barriers that prevent workers from entering the workforce, and increase the portability of licenses across state lines.

“It is an honor to be afforded an opportunity to be engaged in the national discussion about improving licensing opportunities and processes, specifically for Nevada’s construction workforces, among others,” stated Executive Officer Margi A. Grein.  “I look forward to working with a diverse group of minds and developing innovative, thoughtful solutions with the intent of opening new doors for those looking to make a living in Nevada.”

Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Utah and Wisconsin will be joining Nevada’s delegation at the Consortium, which is set to hold its first meeting in December.  It is anticipated the Consortium will focus on key populations facing the greatest barriers to licensure, including skilled immigrants, those with criminal records, veterans, and the unemployed.

The Consortium is supported by the National Conference of State Legislatures, National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, and the Council of State Governments, and will afford states the opportunity to engage directly with experts in the identified areas.

Children’s Dentistry of Southern Nevada Names Genesis Galdamez as Las Vegas Regional Manager

GenesisLAS VEGAS (September 25, 2017) – Children’s Dentistry of Southern Nevada is proud to announce the promotion of Genesis Galdamez to the position of Las Vegas Regional Manager.

In her new position, Galdamez will be responsible for managing both clinical and non-clinical functions of the dental program and providing administrative oversight of dental services for the offices in Southern Nevada. She also will work closely with the owner of Children’s Dentistry, Dr. Steven Delisle, and the practice’s COO to ensure goals are being met and the dental practice is running smoothly.

Galdamez was formerly the front desk coordinator and billing specialist for Children’s Dentistry. She oversaw patient payments and worked directly with insurance companies, office staff and patients to get claims processed.

Galdamez attended Saint Paul Community College and the University of Minnesota, where she earned her degree as a certified nursing assistant. She has worked in customer and patient services for more than seven years and has always been passionate about helping others and giving back to those in need.

Now through April 1, 2018, for every flu shot administered, a meal will be donated

 

LAS VEGAS (September 15, 2017) – Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, under its parent company The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), announces its second annual health and wellness campaign, One Shot, One Meal, in partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization. For each flu shot administered at a Smith’s pharmacy until April 1, 2018 Smith’s will donate one meal to Three Square Food Bank through the Feeding America network. “Our goal is to not only provide quality and affordable healthcare for our customers, but we’re proud to bring health and wellness to our local communities as well,” said Aubriana Martindale, Smith’s Corporate Affairs Manager.

 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 310,000 individuals were hospitalized last year for flu-related illnesses. The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccination for everyone 6 months of age and older. Flu shots can reduce the risk of more serious symptoms and outcomes, including flu-related hospitalizations.

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Holds ‘Students Helping Students’ Disaster Relief Gift Card Drive to Help Houston Schools Impacted by Hurricane Harvey

LAS VEGAS – Sept. 6, 2017 – Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, a prominent state-sponsored charter school, announced that all five of its campuses will hold a gift card drive over the next few months to support Houston-area schools devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

 

The gift cards will be used by Texas schools to replenish damaged items, furniture and supplies in the areas most impacted by the hurricane and flooding. Community members are invited to donate the gift cards in any monetary amount from businesses that sell school items, such as: Amazon, Target, Walmart, Office Depot, and more. At the completion of the drive, all gift cards will be sent to the Harris County Department of Education in Houston (HCDE). HCDE will then distribute the cards to the schools that need them the most.

 

“We at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas hope that this ‘Students Helping Students’ drive will inspire the Southern Nevada community to come together during Houston’s time of need,” said CASLV Executive Director Ercan Aydogdu. “In the wake of this tragic situation, we feel that every community should join together to support those who have suffered such major losses.”

 

The Students Helping Students Disaster Relief Drive will continue through the end of October 2017, and all five CASLV campuses will serve as drop-off locations. Gift cards can be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following locations:
